What Is a Thai Amulet Pendant?

Thai amulet pendants — known as phra phim or khreuang rang — are among the most deeply rooted forms of sacred art in Southeast Asia. Worn by Buddhists and Hindus alike for protection, merit and intention, these small cast pieces carry centuries of spiritual meaning.

Artschatz carefully sources each pendant directly from Thai artisans and temple craftsmen. Every piece is an authentic representation of its deity or sacred symbol — not a decorative replica, but a genuine talisman made in the traditional way.

Whether you're drawn to the serene compassion of the Buddha, the joyful energy of Ganesh, the fierce protection of Durga or the thunderbolt power of the Dorje Vajra — each pendant in this collection carries its own story.

Find Your Birthday Buddha

In Thai Buddhist tradition, each day of the week has its own sacred Buddha pose — a specific mudra believed to carry that day's protective energy. People wear the Buddha of the day they were born as a personal talisman. Artschatz carries the full set in two sizes: miniature gold (0.7") and classic gold (1").

Frequently Asked Questions

Thai amulet pendants are small cast metal talismans worn for spiritual protection, merit and intention. Rooted in Theravada Buddhist tradition and deeply interwoven with Hindu influences, they depict deities, sacred symbols and revered monks. They have been worn across Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar for centuries and remain an active part of daily spiritual life throughout the region.
The Artschatz amulet collection covers a wide range of traditions. Buddhist figures include multiple mudra poses of the Buddha (Dhyana, Bhumisparsha, Vitarka, Sukhothai and more), Weekday Birthday Buddhas, Phra Somdej and Phra Chinnarat. Hindu deities include Ganesh (13+ forms), Shiva, Durga, Saraswati, Garuda and Guanyin. Sacred symbols include the Dorje Vajra, Double Dorje, Kila Phurba, Naga Serpent, Om and the Trishula.
Each pendant is cast in traditional brass or gold-plated brass — the same materials used by Thai artisans for generations. Brass gives a warm, aged patina over time. Gold-plated versions have a brighter, ceremonial finish. Some special editions are hand-painted for additional color detail. All pieces are solid metal — not plastic, zinc alloy or painted resin.
Pendant sizes range from 0.5" (OM pendant) to 2.4" (large Kila Phurba dagger). Most pendants fall between 1" and 1.8" — a size that wears comfortably on a chain or cord and displays the detail of the casting well. Each product listing includes the exact size so you know exactly what you're getting.
Each pendant includes a bail (loop) for stringing on a chain or cord. Chain and cord options vary by product — please check the individual listing for details. Many customers wear these on a simple black cord for a traditional look, or on a fine gold or silver chain for a more contemporary style.
Brass naturally develops a warm patina over time — many wearers consider this part of the pendant's character. To maintain the original shine, gently polish with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water or harsh chemicals. Gold-plated pieces should not be polished with abrasive materials. Store in a dry place when not worn. These are heirloom-quality pieces made to last.
